Instrumental solos express the emotions of a piece of music through instruments performed by an individual. By performing at Royal South Street competitors gain exposure to some of the countries best adjudicators and meet other fine musicians in a supportive environment .
In 2016 String solos will be held at The Diocesan Centre, Lydiard Street South. Brass and Woodwind sections will take place in Room 50 at the Wendouree Centre for the Performing Arts, Howitt Street, Wendouree. Both facilities offer a comfortable and intimate performance space with excellent acoustics.
The percussion solos are held in conjunction with the Freemasons Festival of Bands and Strings, which is held in Her Majesty’s Theatre.
Entries are now are now open for the 2017 Season of Instrumental Solos.

As per the rules in the Competition Schedule, please ensure copies of the pieces to be played are forwarded to us by the due date. Please send only the requested music – all other music should be handed in at registration on the day and not forwarded by mail.
