It is with great sadness that the Royal South Street Society acknowledges the passing of Ron Harrington OAM.
For more than 40 years, Ron dedicated himself to the Royal South Street Society, serving as Board Member, Vice-President, President, Life Member, and long-serving Chair of our Calisthenics discipline. Alongside his wife Dawn, Ron helped shape generations of young performers and contributed significantly to the growth and success of the Royal South Street Society Ballarat Eisteddfod.
A passionate advocate for the arts, education and community, Ron’s leadership extended beyond Ballarat through his founding role with the Association of Eisteddfod Societies of Australia and his tireless support of eisteddfods across Victoria and Australia.
Awarded the Order of Australia Medal in 2008 for service to the community, Ron leaves an extraordinary legacy that will continue to inspire future generations.
Our heartfelt condolences are extended to Dawn, his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing and working with him.
Ron will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
