Royal South Street Society Ballarat Eisteddfod Calisthenic Solo
To compete at Royal South Street Society Ballarat Eisteddfod is always the dream. To place in the Solo section and win the 2023 Ballarat Eisteddfod Calisthenic Solo …… Disbelief is the only word that comes to mind.
Feeling both honored and grateful, it will forever be a day I will never forget.
My journey hasn’t always been easy, but I wouldn’t change a thing. There have been many hours, days, and years of blood, sweat, tears and doubt, all packaged neatly into a 3-minute solo, with the love of performing at its heart.
The choreography for this solo and the many others that came before, is the part of Calisthenics that I hold close with pride and emotion. I’ve always tried to push my own boundaries, whether it be with movement, style or emotion. Years of watching all my Calisthenic favorites (both here in the West and nationally) has helped me to create and perfect my own style.
This solo would not have been possible without the love and guidance from my coach Rochelle. You believed in me and knew from the start where I could go. I am forever grateful. You truly are the GOAT in all things lighting and music. Thank you for guiding me and helping me discover my style and ultimately, enabling me to develop into the performer and person I am today. Experiencing those character building lows and the highest of highs together …… Your unwavering belief in me has never faltered.
To the woman who does it all and a little more, my beautiful mum. This title is as much yours as it is mine. You have been there through it all. There are not enough words to express how lucky I am to have you.
Be inspired and be inspiring!
Something Rochelle and I say here in the West. Be inspired by the others around you and be inspiring for those looking from afar.
I can’t believe it’s been a year since winning this title, the very first West Australian in history to do so. I am so very honored and cannot thank the Royal South Street Society enough for giving me the opportunity to compete at the most prestigious competition in Australia.
Thank you!
