Finance and Administration Officer

We are currently seeking a part time Finance and Administration Officer to join our office and event management team at the Royal South Street Socety, Australia’s longest running performing arts eisteddfod. This is a new role to expand our current team! Ideally this person would want to work in our unique performing arts inspired work environment and be flexible in the role and hours throughout our busy eisteddfod season to work with our team of staff and volunteers in event management. An understanding or appreciation of the performing arts and eisteddfods is desirable.

November – June – (normal flexible office hours)
July – October – Eisteddfod season (flexible mix of office and event hours)

About the role:

Join a unique and dynamic working environment at the Royal South Street Society as a part-time Finance and Administration Officer (approx 15 hours per week). In this key role, you will be responsible for a range of financial and administrative duties to support the smooth running of the organisation and the exciting annual performing arts eisteddfod season. This is a flexible part-time position based in Ballarat, Victoria.

What you’ll be doing

  • Processing invoices, payments and receipts in a timely manner
  • Maintaining accurate financial records
  • Providing administrative support, including managing correspondence and event management such as adjudicator contracts, processing prize money, merchandise and use of Square.
  • Assisting with the preparation of financial reports and budgets
  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders and eisteddfod enquiries as required
  • Providing administrative & staff support for events and other organisational activities

What we’re looking for

  • 2-3 years’ experience in a similar finance and administration role. Not for profit and events experience desirable.
  • Strong financial management skills, including experience with accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations and reporting
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work with a high degree of accuracy
  • Proficient in the use of accounting software and Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A team-oriented approach with the ability to work independently
  • Knowledge and awareness of RSSS and performing arts is desirable
