The 2025 Impact Report for the Royal South Street Society once again highlights our critical impact on Ballarat’s Tourism & Economy, Community, Culture & Heritage, The Performing Arts, Participants, Suppliers & Venues.

Whilst we still have lots of work to do in our post Covid recovery which has had a lasting impact on the performing arts, especially in schools… there are many important and interesting things we have uncovered that highlight the legacy and impact of RSSS!
Did you know?
- In 2025 there were over 25,000 participants throughout our season of events, including performers, supporters and audience.
- 75% of our participants in 2025 travelled to Ballarat to perform at RSSS Ballarat Eisteddfod!
- Over half of our participants stay at least one night in Ballarat and contribute over $2 million in accommodation alone to the Ballarat economy!
- RSSS has been around for a whopping 87% of the City of Ballarat’s formal history! Making us a critical cornerstone of our city’s heritage, culture, community and economy.
- There are in excess of 1.3 million RSSS alumni – all out working, living and some still performing with skills and a love of the performing arts developed on our platforms.
- Our volunteers assist with over 10,000 hours of support! We can’t run these events without them!
- We source over $160,000 annually in sponsorships, donations and trusts towards prize money, trophies and events for our performers!
The impact of the Royal South Street Society Ballarat Eisteddfod on our region and the performing arts is astounding when considering we have been running events for over 135 years!
