Winner of the 2023 Pirouette Modern Championship Solo
Milly has been competing at the Royal South Street Society Dance Competition for 11 years. Since her first year at the competition in 2013, she has always loved going back there year after year. The atmosphere created at this competition allows for such a positive environment where Milly has felt she can really push herself to grow everytime she steps on stage. She has loved going back each year and seeing all the volunteers that have been there since she was little. Royal South Street Society is the only competition in Milly’s 11 years of solos that she has gone back to annually, so it was such a lovely way to do her last solos at this competition and to win the Pirouette Modern Champion last year. This has been a section she has watched since she was very young, so winning this was such an honor and something she has dreamed of for years.
Milly has been dancing for 15 years with 14 of those at Versatility Dance College (Previously Anita Coutts School of Dance). She has trained in ballet, jazz and contemporary styles but loves contemporary dance the most. She has been with Scimm Dance Company’s Platforms Youth Company for 5 years where she has performed many shows with them. Milly hopes to continue dancing after she graduates this year in the contemporary style and is looking forward to returning back to Royal South Street Society Ballarat Eisteddfod each year to watch the new generation of dancers come through.
